When will zbattle.net support more than 2 players?
This is a limitation of ZSNES, so it's really up to its developers. zbattle.net cannot support more than 2 players until ZSNES does.
How do I configure my router/firewall to work with zbattle.net and ZSNES?
If you are using a router you need to access its configuration page (this is usually done by typing http://192.168.0.1 in your browser). In the port forwarding section of the router configuration page, you need to forward UDP port 7845 (for ZSNES) and TCP port 4000 (for zbattle.net downloading) to your LAN IP. For more information on how this is done, please consult your router manual.
If you are using a firewall you need to allow incoming/outgoing UDP port 7845 (for ZSNES), outgoing TCP port 4398 (to connect to the zbattle.net server), and incoming TCP port 4000 (for zbattle.net downloading). For more information on how this is done, please consult your firewall software documentation.
How can I change the port zbattle.net uses for downloads?
Currently the only way is to edit the "zbattle.net.ini" file, which is found where you installed zbattle.net (default location is "C:\Program Files\zbattle.net"). Open that file and change the line "startport=4000" to "startport=xyz", where xyz is the port you would like to use.
Why does the download close after a few seconds for no reason?
This is a bug in zbattle.net that causes the connection to timeout if no data is received for ten seconds. This will be fixed in the next version of zbattle.net.
Why do I get an error about WS2_32.DLL?
If you get this error you are probably using an early version of Windows 95. Please click here to download the update that fixes this problem.
Why can't I download from other players?
There are a couple reasons why this would happen. The most common reason is that the connection between you and the other person is too slow and the connection times out (a bug in the zbattle.net software). Another reason is that either you or the other person could have a software firewall installed or could be connected to a router. In either case, you need to configure your firewall or router properly (you can change which ports zbattle.net uses for downloads by editing the .ini file found in your zbattle.net installation directory).
I have the same game as the host, but zbattle.net says I don't, why does this happen?
This could be for two reasons. The most common reason is that you do not have your ROM directory set correctly in ZSNES. There are a couple ways to set it correctly, but here is the easiest way:
1. Make sure zbattle.net is not open.
2. Open ZSNES.
3. Load a ROM.
4. Exit ZSNES.
Another reason is that your ROM and the host's ROM could be different. Even if they are the same game, there could be differences in the actual ROM data.
Also, make sure none of your ROMs are zipped. zbattle.net does not currently support zipped ROMs.
Why does my ROM directory in ZSNESW.CFG keep changing? Is there a way to make it stay the same?
I'm not sure if it's a bug or bad design, but ZSNES changes your rom directory when using netplay. To make it stay the same, you can set ZSNESW.CFG to read-only by right-clicking on it in windows explorer, and checking the read-only option.
The only problem with this is that ZSNES won't be able to save its options if you change them, so you'll have to configure ZSNES how you want it, then set your ROM directory, then set ZSNESW.CFG to read-only for best results. |
